Sleep is the first thing to go when we are leading extra busy lives, but sleep should be the one thing that we keep constant. However, we are all waking up to the importance of a good night’s sleep, and we should all take extra care this holiday season to continue to get the recommended hours of sleep each night so that we don’t become a danger to people around us. Not only will a lack of sleep make us grumpy and tired, it will make us distracted in all areas of life. Distracted drivers, as well as drowsy drivers, can be just as dangerous on the road as drunk drivers.
Drowsy drivers can be deadly
When you are sleep-deprived, you are easily distracted. A new study shows that drivers who miss just a few hours of sleep a night are more than four times as likely to crash. This is comparable to statistics on drunk driving.
Avoid distracted driving accidents
Make sure you and your teens all get a good night’s sleep every night during the holidays so that you can stay safe on the road and avoid costly and deadly distracted driving accidents. It will also leave you much more pleasant to be around, as well as give you the mental and emotional strength to get through the stressful (but joyous) holiday season.
